Behaviour worth knowing
Most shortcuts pause while you type. Ctrl O, Ctrl Enter, Ctrl V, Ctrl H,
Ctrl R and Ctrl Z do nothing while the cursor is in a text field, so typing a room code or
a note is never interrupted, nothing fires twice, a half-typed note is never wiped mid-word, and
the text box keeps its own undo.
One fires from anywhere. Ctrl , opens Settings, the way a preferences shortcut normally
does.
Ctrl Z is the narrowest of them. It undoes a Clear, and only from the send tab that
clear came from: on the other send tab, on Receive, in History, in Settings, or with
a dialog open, it does nothing at all. The offer itself survives all of those, so going back to
the tab you cleared brings it within reach again. Ctrl Shift Z is deliberately not an undo,
because it is redo on every platform that has it.
Ctrl R asks for confirmation in three cases: when a transfer is actually moving data, when
the text box holds a note that has not been sent, and when you cleared a note that had never
been sent and its Undo is still available, whether or not its bar is still up. The prompts
cover both paths to Start over, the shortcut itself and clicking the Floe lockup in the
titlebar. The unsent-note dialog reads “The text you typed has not been sent yet. Starting over
will clear it.”; the cleared-note one reads “The text you cleared can still be brought back.
Starting over will discard it.”A note counts as sent only while the box still holds exactly what went out, so typing a new
one after a send prompts again, and so does a note you typed and then abandoned in favour of
sending files. Staged files never prompt on their own, because the originals are untouched on
disk, and neither does a send or a receive that is still connecting, so Start over stays a
one-click escape from a stuck connection.
Ctrl R does not reload the app. In a browser that key reloads the page, which here
would abandon a transfer in progress. Floe intercepts it and uses it to clear the card instead.
Holding Ctrl V pastes once. Key repeat is ignored, so the list is not flooded. Paste is
also ignored entirely while a transfer is running.
